Tiffany Jelliffe
Hometown: Atlanta, Georgia
I took my first yoga class in college at a coworkers home in Atlanta. It was an auspicious encounter with the practice. In 2013, I moved to Maui and reconnected with the practice through the Bikram Yoga School. Eventually I found my way to Mangala Yoga Studio. I completed my 200 hr YTT in vinyasa flow yoga with Mangala Yoga in 2015. I have been teaching public yoga classes since then and have become an experienced registered yoga teacher. Over the years I have taken continuing education courses + intensives with Jes Fertig, Nicki Doane, Dylan Werner and Patrick Beach.
Who/what influences your teaching and practice currently?
In my personal practice I feel very much inspired by mobility based movements and creative, strong sequencing. I love discovering unique ways to link traditional asana with breath + yogic philosophy. Growing with community is most influential on my teachings. I deeply value connecting to my students and creating a safe container for them to feel empowered in their practice.
How do you apply yoga practice to your every day life?
Life is a practice - from motherhood, my marriage, friendships and career. I am constantly linking (or at least attempting to) intentional breath to intentional movement. Some days flow more smoothly than others on and off the mat. I feel grateful to have the teachings of yoga in my life.
What is a fun fact about you?
I have a degree in Middle Eastern Studies and Arabic!
What can students expect from your class?
My classes begin with grounding breath work, intention and the vibration of mantra. We will move through various mobility warm ups in preparation for flow. Each class will move intelligently and fluidly through a strong, creative sequence that will peak in a strength pose followed by a balanced stretch series and peak flexibility pose. Classes come to a close with releasing breath work and savasana. We work hard, have fun and tap into the power of communal movement and breath!
All levels are welcome.
