Everything you need to know before stepping on the mat.

The word "yoga" comes from Sanskrit, meaning union or to yoke. A contemporary interpretation describes yoga as a systematic practice aimed at developing harmony in the body, mind, and environment — one that has been evolving and deepening for thousands of years.

As you begin, aim to practice a couple of times a week — enough to start feeling the rhythm without overwhelming your schedule. Over time, as the practice deepens and becomes your own, you may find it naturally weaving itself into your daily life.

Absolutely. Flexibility is not a prerequisite — it's a result. A regular yoga practice will help you become more flexible, more mobile, and more at ease in your body over time. Come as you are.

Please bring your own yoga mat. If you forget, we have mat rentals available. You're also welcome to bring your own blocks, straps, and towel — we provide accessories at the studio as well.

Something comfortable and breathable — flexible top and bottom. No shoes needed in the studio, so leave those at the door.

A light meal or small snack at least an hour before class works well. This gives your body time to digest while still giving you energy to move. Avoid heavy meals right before practice.

Each studio has its own schedule and offerings. Haiku is our north shore location and Kahului features infrared heated classes in central Maui. One membership works at both — you can explore both schedules and find what fits your week.
