Cara Griffin
Hometown: Huntsville, Alabama AKA “Rocket City”
My training started at age 15 with Rodney Yee VHS tapes, the YMCA, & Kundalini yoga. I’ve completed numerous trainings in diverse spiritual modalities and had the privilege of being a student of Anusara, Baptiste, Ashtanga, Yin, Iyengar, Dharma Mittra, Maya Yoga, & more. I’ve toured the U.S., taught internationally, built yoga programming for Universities and served as a Professor of Yoga for Georgia Southern University. I host retreats, trainings, and offer online and 1:1 programs annually with my personal methodology, “Free the Pelvis”.
Who/what influences your teaching and practice currently?
Lately, the Tibetan rites, aerial arts, surfing, archery, & free diving inspire my movement & spiritual practice. I love to read about neuroscience, psychology, biology, poetry, and movement modalities.
How do you apply yoga practice to your every day life?
My life is an extension of my yoga practice; it’s one big field of action. Yoga influences how I see the world and relate to everything happening around me. It empowers me, humbles me, is my therapy, and encourages me to pay attention on a more subtle level. Asana helps me wake up, focus and feel like I exist. I use breath work for emotional and nervous system regulation and it’s magic. Yoga is my love language.
What is a fun fact about you?
When I’m not practicing yoga, I’m a full time artist working with fire, paint, my body, and sculptural mediums.
What can students expect from your class?
My vinyasa class is alignment focused and intentionally & playfully sequenced for functional strength and mobility. Classes are themed monthly and tailored for practitioner’s bodies. You can always expect to have fun while being challenged through hip, feet, and breath work. You’ll learn Sanskrit, yoga philosophy, be encouraged and supported with hands on assists, and be treated like family.
All levels are welcome.
